A portrait series inspired by the elegance and romanticism of Indian miniature art.

This series pays tribute to the quiet grandeur of India’s royal courts — where gestures spoke volumes, eyes carried entire poems, and love stories were painted in whispers. Inspired by the poetic legacy of Raja Sawant Singh and Bani Thani, these layered wood portraits reimagine the stylized beauty of Kishangarh miniature paintings through a contemporary lens.

Each piece is handpainted on wood and set within intricate, jali-inspired frames — blending architectural rhythm with painterly grace. Though rooted in history, they are not replicas, but original works that honor the mood, symbolism, and silent conversation of courtly love.

Acrylic on wood, with layered woodcut frame | 90cm x 90cm

One-of-a-kind original painting

A quiet homage to elegance, Bani Thani, this piece captures the legendary muse in a moment of tender connection — her gaze meeting that of a deer, poised and still beneath lush palms.

Delicately painted in rich reds and accented with fine linework, the figure is set within a carved archway and framed by intricate latticework, echoing the ornate jali windows of traditional Rajasthani architecture. Each detail — from her jewelry to the subtle shading in her garments — is rendered with patience and reverence.

Painted and constructed entirely by hand, this layered wood panel is both painting and sculptural relief. A portrait of timeless beauty, reimagined with warmth, texture, and soul.

Ready to hang. Protected with a matte, archival-quality finish.

*This piece was designed as a visual pair with its counterpart, "Bani Thani," but is available individually. Each painting stands on its own, yet together they form a quiet conversation across time and tradition.
